My stomach grumbled with nerves when I had to face Behemoth, but seeing Caspian like that I understood what he used to say, I was his and he was mine and no one gets to torture him, well, except me. Mine to love, mine to torture that brought a smile to my face, without me wanting to smile. It was just so funny.

Now, that I managed to free him from his father’s claws my heart beat like crazy.

He sat in front of me on a chair and I could feel tears well up in his eyes. What could I say? I was never good at this, at being warm. I never expected anyone to comfort me, and I didn’t know how to clear the air with him. I did the dumbest thing, I just stood there, unable to move or touch him, wanting to take his pain away, but too afraid to actually get closer to him. What if I would do something wrong?

Caspian and I didn’t have a chance to talk since all this mess happened. Our relationship was this wild roller coaster, and even now, my chest hurt with love for him. Fuck, I do love him.

“Thank you, Silver!”

He said the words softly, and without his usual arrogant demeanor that I came to love and hate, but there was more, there was a boy behind the cool facade, maybe a boy that was raised the same way I have been. He was raised to be brave and always strong, the same way I was.

“We are more alike than you think.” I whispered more to myself. Could it be, was he my Fated mate? The one for me, my husband ? Even though I felt all this love for him, my heart was filled with the love for the pack, and Preach and Chris. Oh Gods, will life ever be simple?

I started to rub my temples in an absent way, refusing to think about everything that was going on in my life. And about the fact that I promised Lucifer’s protection without asking Lucifer if he was on board with that. I will have to make him agree.

My gaze drifted back to my fiancé.

Caspian was gorgeous, with his intricate tattoos and strong muscles, and the fact that he wasn’t wearing a shirt made me swallow hard. The small room smelled like him, and the fire painted wonderful pictures of passion inside my head.

“Cas, I… You don’t have to thank me,” I trailed off. I was being honest.

“If you don’t want to stay with me, I understand. I know that our connection was something political that our fathers planed, you will still have the protection of The House of Lucifer. No matter if we are together or not.”

I have never seen anyone move so fast, in my life.

One minute Cas was sitting on the couch and looking into the fire, and the next he was standing in front of me, pushing me on the desk that I was leaning on.

His large hands grabbed my shoulders and I could feel the heat radiating from him.
